Bike n' hike

Bike Krummbachtal
Climbing to the top of Kellerjoch

For those of you who both love biking and hiking, this new concept is just your thing! We simply start by bike and when the path becomes too narrow and/or too stony, we switch to hiking poles and continue on foot.

This is a very nice and different way of experiencing nature!

Suggested tours:

We bike on asphalt from the valley to Hainzenberg (923 m.a.s.l.) and from there we continue on a dirt road to the Gerlosstein ski area which is at an altitude of 1.620 metres. We park our bikes at the mountain station of the Gerlosstein cable-car and walk on towards the base of this unique rock wall. After a steep walk up where we sometimes have to use our hands, we find ourselves at the summit of the Gerlosstein at 2.166 meters high. We will be able to see not only the entire Zillertal valley but also from Germany to Italy! After taking some pictures and enjoying the scenery for a while we descend on the other side of the rock where it is less steep and hike through a colourful and lively forest back to our bikes where we begin a relaxed downhill tour back to civilization.

This trip requires a good physical condition as we bike n’ hike more than 1.500 vertical metres and it takes us around 7/8 hours.

We park our bikes there and continue on foot along narrow paths towards the 2.700 m.a.s.l. Brandenberger Kolm’s top from where we will be able to take the most stunning pictures of the entire Zillertal valley including its big and ancient glaciers!                                                                                                                                          This trip requires a good physical condition as we bike n’ hike more than 2.000 vertical metres. It is also possible to do this tough tour in 2 days staying overnight at “Kolmhaus”, a typical Tyrolean hut with a very friendly staff.
